About the Legal Lean Sigma Institute

With our specific focus on the legal profession, we are uniquely capable of providing services to to law firms and legal departments. The concept of applying Lean and Six Sigma to law firms was conceived by CEO and Founder Catherine Alman MacDonagh, JD, a former corporate counsel turned law firm marketing and business development professional. Launched in 2008 under the umbrella of the Legal Sales and Service Organization, LLSI became a separate entiity in 2011. Legal Lean Sigma® is so unique that it is a registered trademark.
Since our inception, we have delivered our programs, workshops, and consulting services to thousands of leaders, lawyers and practitioners, business professionals, and senior management in the legal profession. Our certification courses are the first and only combined process improvement and project management certification courses designed specifically for the legal profession. LLSI's Yellow Belt Certification courses are offered at Suffolk Law School and at George Washington University (Masters in Law Firm Management program). Our faculty consistently receive excellent ratings. 
LLSI's offers a spectrum of consulting services that range from designing overall process improvement and project management strategies to solution implementation. With a clear understanding that success is different for every organization, group and project plus adherence to PI, PM, and change management principles, each of our process improvement projects has delivered significant returns on investment and competitive advantages.  
We have a particular focus on: 
  • Preferred provider and client development programs - designing and delivering specific curricula and workshops to advance and enhance relationships between law departments and firms
  • Organizational development work - advising law firms and legal departments that are interested in structuring for success and/or improving their process improvement and project management programs
  • Project support - leading and/or supporting process improvement projects
  • Education - teaching and certifying candidates in process improvement and project management

Legal Lean Sigma Institute faculty have worked on process improvement projects as well as delivered courses and programs for the legal profession, both privately and publicly, including: ACC’s Value Challenge Master Class, the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) Annual Conference, ALA's Large Law Firm Retreat, Law Without Walls, the Legal Marketing Association's Annual Conference, LSSO’s RainDance Conference, Managing Partner Forum, the College of Law Practice Management's Futures Conference, and for many law firm and corporate legal departments.
